Gil Scott-Heron is an American poet, singer, song writer and author who 7NB is a HUGE FAN of. This is Scott-Heron’s newest video for the song “Me and the Devil” and spoken word “Where did the night go” from his new album “I am new here”. Heron has acknowledged as influences Richie Havens, John Coltrane, Otis Redding, Jose Feliciano, Billie Holiday, Langston Hughes, Malcolm X, Huey Newton, Nina Simone, and the pianist who would become his long-time collaborator, Brian Jackson. His body of work spans from 1970 to his latest offering “I am new here” which was released back in early February 2010, his first album in 13 years…
